Terms of Use
1. Purpose
Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region (CMHA – Calgary Region) will only collect information from participants for the purpose of assessment, program evaluation and planning, reporting and funder requirements. Data will be aggregated, where possible, which means the information will not contain your personal information.
CMHA – Calgary Region will collect, use, and disclose information for the following purposes:
- To identify how to improve our services/practices;
- Identify formal and informal education preparation; and
- Contact you for upcoming sessions and/or changes to services.
Information will also be provided to program funders including, but not limited to: The City of Calgary Family and Community Support Services; Alberta Health Services; and The United Way of Calgary and Area, for funding requirements and to identify service needs.
2. Using electronic communication
In using electronic communications to connect with clients, CMHA Calgary is bound by the data sharing and retention practices of third party service providers. This means that client personal information or personal data linked to communication devices (i.e. computer IP addresses, smartphone location services, phone numbers, etc.) may be retained by third party service providers.
When using third party electronic communication software and products, CMHA Calgary is not responsible for third party service provider’s safeguard or retention of personal information under their Terms of Use. Third party service providers may present you with a privacy policy or require you to provide consent before you can install or use their products and services.
Clients can refer to the Terms of Use of each third party service provider for specific data retention and sharing.

If you choose, you may withdraw your consent by providing a written notice to your program. Your consent will be withdrawn effective date of receipt by CMHA – Calgary Region.
The information is collected and retained under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPP), Section 33(c) and Health Information Act (HIA), where applicable.
